Forget everything and get lost in a book today...

Self publishing: When I couldn't find a publisher to take on my books, though I had plenty of good feedback, and a couple of near misses; I decided to self publish, and ultimately set up my own imprint: Lost in a Book.

Lost in a Book works on every level for me - I can be lost in a book that I'm reading, in fact that is my definition of a good book - one that I can get totally lost within, so that I no longer hear (or care) what's going on around me, the telly can blare out it's endless noise and I'll be oblivious to it.

I can be equally lost in a book that I'm writing, letting the characters have their say. Writing a book is an adventure, and even if I think I know where the story is going, the characters may have other ideas… once they start to speak they take on a life of their own as I found out writing the Doodle series. When Eric's doodle:  Iver No-Idea comes to life, right in the middle of class, there's just no shutting him up, and poor Eric tries his best to keep him quiet, and hopes that no one else will notice.

Whilst writing 'But I'm Not Sleepy' I must confess to more than a few yawns - all that talk about sleep… But sleep was the last thing on Lucy's mind, as she acted out the bedtime stories her Granny read to her. And once she started counting sheep, she not only had the sheep to contend with, but Down Boy the sheepdog turned up too, and started trying to round up his sheep.
